If you were going for an anime feel, you killed it
You hit the anime nail right on the head. The character designs were solid, the animation connected suprisingly well, and the voice acting was clear and professional, if not realistic. I guess the problem here that I picked up on is that with the perfect anime mimic came a mimic of anime's issues as well. The reason I can say this is because I've done the exact same thing, and am trying to fix it now. I just wanted to make that clear so that I don't come across as a hypocrite, I can just spot it easily.
The scenario just doesn't stand out, the story is pretty typical anime fare. There's this cold, emotionless main character who has no personality whatsoever and brings nothing interesting to the story. And the voice actors seemed like they were trying too hard, and everything is pretty one-dimensional. The cold character is cold 24/7. The spunky girl is spunky 24/7. The friends have no other purpose in the story other than to try to cheer up the main character when really, in real life, personality-less people like that are unbearable. Maybe just a touch of realism would help, mix things up a bit, add something new to the anime genre like Samurai Champloo, Dead Leaves or the Boondocks did. Don't worry, I'm dealing with similar issues in my own work, it's all good. Good luck with that, the animation looks great.
