You had me up until the ending.

Nice colors, and visuals, the animation was kinda strange looking at times but the cartoon's graphics did it's job. The music was decent, as well as the sound effects. The voice acting was so-so through most of it, the actors aren't bad, but more realism, less anime in the voicing would've really turned this up a notch. The way you depicted all the random stuff around this world, the thieves, hunters, soldiers by the water, etc... I thought was really well done, and fun to watch.
Then it got to that last scene, mysterious guy found by sweet innocent girl, he's either an amnesiac or keeping his horrible violent past a secret, probably a legendary powerful warrior, somebody with demonic powers or something...that scene kinda ruineed it for me. But other than that, hope to see more, also hope it's not as generic unimaginative as that last scene. The rest was damn good though.

Same complaints I guess.

I thought it was a cool concept, people don't do the space thing too much on NG and the character designs were definitely the strong point. The pacing and music choice were also good.
But I have the same complaint with your stuff every time, the movements. Your animation comes off sometimes like you never touch the Onionskin and just make each frame in order from start to finish without looking back to check if the movement looks convincing, and your stuff ends up looking like 2001 flash when people were just kind of using it and didn't know its potential. I think you're full of great 80s-esque cartoon ideas, but the animation itself just robs it of all the fun for me.

Very cool

This toon has great presentation, a little intro animation, a slick simplistic style, great voice acting and everything. I love the "camera-usage" effect too, there's lots of that and I think it looks cool as hell with your drawing style.

I have my complaints though, the story seems kinda weak at this point (Mysterious kid with big appetite....ugh...) but it's nothing that can't be improved, I've seen much worse. The biggest problem here is that this submission isn't satisfying at all. I realize that if you're making a series, it can relieve you of some storytelling obligations such as closure because there'll be more episodes, but wouldn't you want to give your fans a heaping helping of dat anime luvvin' instead of teasing them? I know I was waaay into it at that point where you cut it off. For a series like this, I think you should take at least a good 6-8 minutes to make sure you accomplish something storywise, and that your watchers walk away satisfied. That's just my opinion anyway, God knows I'm guilty of the same thing. Can't wait to see more, keep up the good work

CartoonCoffee responds:

Thanks for the review. I thought ending it at that point was a good place to stop, but episode 3 will definitely be longer. Not sure if i can make 6-8mins but we'll see.

As for the story not much was shown in this episode but there is a great story coming. I didn't want to overwhelm anyone with mind blowing story at the start i was trying to slowly take them in. sort of like having them test the water before going in.

A true argument for the importance of presentation

It's amazing to me that you can make something like this with sticks, you truly tempt me. The sticks were.....well....sticks. But the backgrounds, and overall dark ambiance of the whole thing was just fantastic. The voice acting was choice, kudos, that stuck out to me in particular, and the music fit perfectly. You just....get lost in it, it's ridiculous how well you manage to set up a scene.
Some fBf would be nice, hell even if you want your characters to look dark and shadowy, I'd still like to see some real human anatomy regardless. Other than that, I have no other complaints. Grade-A entertainment.

Also, from that ending, I smell a sequel...

The power and style Newgrounds is missing...

That was pretty damn sweet man. The drawings looked fantastic, as well as the character designs, the animation, and the backgrounds. It had perfect balance as far as detail, everything was in the right place. As much tweening as there was, it was seamless, you forget you're watching a web cartoon. The VA, sound, and storyline were also very, very well done. This is truly something amazing, loved it. 10/10.

Thanks YungJazz, for writing such a nice review

Love your new style

Your new style is a huge step up from Asoaroki (I know I probably spelled that shit wrong), and I think it looks really good, it's also alot more animated. The movements look a bit strange though, because at some points old boy's face and anatomy changed shape really fast. I guess maybe as a suggestion, make sure to take close care that the anatomy stays consistent with animating unless the character is making a really fast movement. I think anything with shotguns is amusing, but I guess I didn't get a big laugh because I haven't touched a Zelda game since the original on NES. Regardless, looks good to me!

ArtistGamerGal responds:

Thanks dude- I really like your style too! Your fpf stuff is really smooth so I totally appreciate your advise :) I'll work on keeping the proportions :p

You guys are no comedians.

I'm sorry, I normally like you guys work but you have beaten this idea into the ground with 14 episodes of a big headed cat floating around making observations about things in a fake Italian accent. The animation and style are solid and squeaky clean, and I think these flashes are very well-presented. But every time I watch these, the child in me dies a little bit due to the lack of anything all that humorous happening, or even the fun spontaneity of your musical flashes.

Ok NG casuals, I'm done ranting, let the clicking of the useless/abusive buttons commence.

Entertaining

The visuals were decent, though (they may need some cleanup), and the voice acting was surprisingly good too. But the concept was just random enough to be funny as hell, and you're wrong for that GI Joe part (lol). I think your graphics could use a little work, and a little less squashing and a little more frame-by-frame, but other than that, keep it up the good work man.

Pretty damn sweet!

I loved it. The color choices were great, and I love your drawing style. The plot was pretty cool too, a simple concept that went a long way. There's some complaints, I think the animations could be a lot smoother and use more keyframes for how simplistic your style is, and maybe some more realistic timing, other than that I can't find much wrong with it. Noice wuk

LewToons responds:

thanks a ton dude, i definitely have a lot to brush up on, but thanks for takin the time to write a thot out review.

Not for Newgrounds

1. It's 5 seconds long.
2. What the hell is Warriors? This has nothing to do with warriors, it's two cats talking with hardly any animation at all. I suspect Warriors is some random set of drawings you do in your spare time about cat politics, but if nobody knows what it is, "spoofing" it is a bit pointless isn't it?
3. There is little to no effort in this flash. It's basically spam, two Photoshop pics with conservatively animated mouths.
