The storyline is brutal...

You've improved in Flash since the last iteration, but it doesn't seem like you've learned much about presentation. The character designs are nice, and the voice acting is solid. But the graphics still look so rough and jagged and not in a stylish way, because there's holes in the characters in a lot of places to where you can see the background, and white spots in the background where there wasn't enough cleanup. However, things like that can be forgiven for good storytelling, and here's what turns me off.

This cartoon accomplishes nothing. It talks in cryptics and has a bunch of shit thrown in that's impossible to understand for anybody except you who created it (not because it's the first Episode, that was my favorite excuse when I first started out). YOU as the artist were impatient with the storytelling and didn't take your audience into consideration when you made it. I can see your main priority with this flash was showing off all the characters and fires and fights and mystic conversations about killing sages and disappearing boys whose girlfriends cry.

When you make any flash, regardless of whether it's the first in a series or not, don't confuse your audience, you want to accomplish something story-wise so your audience walks away with some knowledge about what's going on and MAYBE a question or two, instead of "Hey that was kinda cool but what the hell was going on." It'll make things easier on you later on if you be more mindful of this, and easier on the audience. Now you have to work double-time to answer all the questions you created with this flash in later episodes, don't add anymore mysteries, please... Whether it's the first episode or not, that's no excuse for inconsiderate writing.

No hard feelings I hope Sci-fi, just being honest. I look forward to more of your work, I know you're still just getting your feet wet with flash.

Sci-Fi responds:

meh heh heh! i'm glad you checked this out. considering your one of the few who knew it was a remake. but i'll have to dissagree. i dont much pride my self as an artist as i do a story teller, and everything loped into this script was purposeful. it may seem like an excuse i suppose, but there was alot of consideration when thinking about how and what should be included in this episode. but it would be simply to much to fit 10 or 15 flashes. wait for the extras. it might lighten things up a bit. i made this so that it would be one part of a whole. the extra's will help fill in some gaps but only a bit. as time goes on it will make sense. i want it to be one of those things that people look back at and say "OOH ok now i get it" again you could be saying...whatever full of bs. but no. and yeah my style is kind of lazy when it comes to cleaning, and coloring, no excuses, i just dont have that high of a standard for myself. thanks so much for the review, i hope you continue to watch. it'll be really confusing the second episode. just like last time

I needed that.

Design was a little lazy, but the animation (how animated it was), the slick camera angles, the sound and the effects you used to simulate the falling from the sky looked sick. The was no story, so I'm not gonna comment on that, and the sound quality was a little bit crusty but it was fun to watch regardless. I thought it was hilarious and shocking. Loved the sound choices, but I wish it was better optimized. Loved it.

After spending 8 hours on the phone at work, I foreal feel like doing what Skyman just did. Very entertaining, entertaining in the way Dead Leaves does it, but making you point at the screen, cover your mouth and yell "OH SHIT N***A DID HE REALLY JUST DO THAT!?!?!" Want more.

andreasng responds:

awesome! thanks you. Yeah Dead leaves is like one of my main inspirations. Have you seen "mind game" ? that IS my fav, and it has some clever things going on, with the broken foot, the milk, and the ... yeah if you've seen it you know, if not - go see it. its fantastic.

thanks. great review man

Damn, you need to make anime-style cartoons--

--just for that intro scene looking so delicious. I just want to say that the drawing style, animations and backgrounds on that first little anime minute looked fantastic and I think you should make a whole flash as beautiful and stupid as that.

Graphics and character designs were fantastic, love the drawing style on both segments. The animation on the second segment...lacked decent in-betweens and the movements looked pretty cheap. The acting was solid, but the voice volume had way too much variation. Captain had a loud, booming voice, the kids were barely audible. But the writing, and commentaries were fun to observe. Great toon.

Why...the fuck...have I never seen this...

As long as I've been a fan of your art, and thinking that the characters and shit you draw involving rocket powered crotches is random as hell, I have never seen this movie. Even for being 2 years old, the art style and the comedy had me with a big goofy grin the whole time I watched it. Love the colors and the characters. The action could've used some work but it seems like you were aware of that. ("With the power of bad animation and a fishing rod I defeated the shark") Sweet work man.

You have great style

But this is very unsatisfying. The character, the colors and the style looked fantastic. But the animation was bad on this short in that...there was none, except for some tweening. If you add some more time onto future works, and find a good balance between shading and character detail so that you won't be afraid of frame by frame, you'll be diabolical here. I look forward to seeing more from ya'

gogojimbo responds:

Thank you for the critique, it's really appreciated! And detailed too. What you pointed out is what I want to work on, so I'm glad about that.

Thanks again, this really helped~.

I only understood the word "fuck"

I want to say, "The British accents are so thick I can't understand anything they say", but that'd be wrong since you guys invented the language... and I guess my ebonics don't help my case.

Well, let's see, you completely ripped Family Guy's style to the point of tracing the characters as bases for your own. The comedy is...non-existant... since it's just a bunch of people sitting around cursing at each other (which actually can be funny, but not here for some reason). The audio quality was also bad. It's just boring. But I like the colors and shading, that's the best I can come up with. Some subtitles would be just fantastic here.

peterthepan responds:

As I said, people who don't know those involved will probably not find this funny or interesting but thanks none the less.

It's shit like this I miss from Newgrounds

You don't see stuff like this around here anymore, all people care about is comedy these days. I thought it was fantastic. The characters were very unique looking, the animation was solid, and the choreography (I can tell you probably free-flowed which is just as good) was really nice. I don't see too much wrong with it except for the background being a little weak, and the lack of a coherent story, but you didn't need it for this to be fun as hell to watch. Keep up the good work

"Fuck you ya white honkie Nordic n***a bitch&

That's my phrase of the week, thankyou, I'm going to say that to the next white person I see, But low key I thought that was pretty damn hilarious, the dialogue anyway. Your impressions are horrible (You have never met a black person in your life), and I'm pretty sure that's what made it funny. Unfortunately, everything else was 'meh'. The graphics were...just awful. I notice a lot of offended people too. I don't think it's offensive, it had me rollin' on the floor, but still that was pretty bad. But it was full of hilarious quotes that I'd tattoo on my ass if I had the chance.

Hahaha, that made my day

Yup, that's pretty much it. The song was hilarious, that's a 10 by itself, but I have to be fair and review the movie as a whole. The graphics were decent, nothing too impressive, though I did like the character designs alot. The animation was... meh, but the good part is how well the storytelling went along with the song. Everything was clean looking, even though that's like asking for a blowjob here on NG. Oh and that Menace reference gave me a chuckle too. I thought it was pretty damn funny

Not your best

Shit man, you're breakin' my heart. Don't you know you're one of the people who got me animating?

The graphics were good, the character drawings look much more crisp than your previous works that's a plus. I still hate your color choices...BUT they're uniquely you, and you've turned it into something that makes your stuff stand out. The music choice was nice too.
The fBf was okay, what little there was, not too smooth. But my main complaint is that it was just so damn...meh... that's the only word I can use to explain it. Don't get me wrong, a movie in reverse was a pretty imaginative idea, but making 90% of it slow motion made it excruciating to watch the first time. And on top of that, it made NO sense. If you played it in reverse (so it'd show what happened forward), him going through all that stuff in the air and space would be random as hell. I dunno what to think.
I feel you, trying to make something different every time, but the whole frenetic fast-paced thing was kinda what made a lot of people like your shit, including me, and this was different, but not hot enough to impress. Sorry. Compared to your old shit, it's painfully average.
