Looks damn great, but I feel like it's unnecessary

I love the character designs you did, man. They look great, which makes me wish it wasn't a fan cartoon. Regardless, fluid animation, good color choice, nice visuals period. Thing is, it's like 30 seconds and that 30 seconds isn't even completely fleshed out, I just feel like you would have been better off surprising us with the final product. But it looks like this is getting some attention, your flick, it's up to you. Lookin' forward to it.

FergusonWinston responds:

Thanks. Yea I rushed and threw this trailer together in a few days...mainly to draw attention to the contest that Im trying to win with Nicktoons for my previous film. I also wanted to see how ppl would react to what I had done, in hopes that it would give me motivation to finish. Thanks for the critique

What the hell kind of name is Tywo?

Clean drawings, good art style, nice background drawings, good voice acting, just the right length, and the pacing, I can't help but feel like this should've been on TV. Some of the humor was a bit dry though, and some of the animation and walk cycles were a bit stiff for the simplistic style, but otherwise, that was really well done. Quality flash, keep up the good work!

Pixmintro responds:

Thanks, the walk cycles were just out of my laziness and yeah, I'm still working on the humor aspect though. I probably went through 3 script drafts until I got to this one. Also the reason his name was Tywo was because his mom was SLOSHED on morphine at the time. :)

Haha, love the style.

Nice animation and color, cool idea and well set up. I won't complain about the length since it was an assignment. I can't help but feel like some parts needed more keyframes, but it was great overall. Nice job =)

Andrew-Buckley responds:

yeah i would have liked to have spent more time nutting out the key frames as well, but i decided not to add anymore in in flash because i liked just having what i did on paper in there.

thanks for the review, it was a fun style as well

Irresistable

I thoroughly enjoyed this flash, the drawings were clean, the backgrounds were well-done, the acting was solid, the sound quality was good, the dialogue was funny and it was plain fun to watch. I liked the main character, and could pick up on the story relatively easily, also the last gun fight was nice.

Not without some problems, though. For one, the characters were barely animated and it was a bit stiff. During dialogue, only the mouths of the characters moved and nothing else, nothing a little tweening on the head or eyes couldn't fix; also, some of the animation needed a bit of refining like Steve's run cycle. And maybe some more small things to add power to the gun fights, like camera shakes when somebody fires a round.

Other than that, loved it. PS: Action+Comedy=WIN.

This is gonna be a great series

I always love catching the start of a new series, you didn't disappoint. The animation was great, good mix of tweening and frame-by-frame, the sound was very clear, voice acting was excellent, and the story is pretty interesting. You left it very open-ended too, which is good for a first episode, I know first hand that if you try to set anything in stone with the first movie then it's awful if you decide to change your mind about anything. The movie just flowed really well. You have my watch =)

professor-fate responds:

Cheers, dude!
In this case, leaving it open was necessary. At the time, I didn't have a clue who my opponent was. XD
But in any case, it's always best to dangle a carrot in front of your audience for the next episode and don't give TOO much away!

Cool

I like it, its much different than a lot of parody cartoons. The drawing style was nice for the non-sprite parts, and the sprite parts were SHORT (Thanks). Good song choice also. Could have used more frame-by-frame and less tweening to make it more interesting, which I have no doubt you could do. Also, there were these blank white areas on the side of the screen (no points taken off for that of course). Great flash, entertaining. 8/10

Hahaha.

Ok THAT was pretty funny, and shamefully accurate on some levels hehe (Except for the part about not knowing TPerry began in musical theatre, there's no black person who watches his movies and doesn't know that) Otherwise, great point. As usual, there wasn't much animation effort at all, and everything looked pretty recycled. But I can appreciate your completely obvious way of getting a point across lol. Average. 7/10.

I'm just not feelin' it, man, I tried.

It's animated, but not incredibly well animated. The voice acting is solid, and the sound is clear. I've seen the Power Rangers movie, I pounded it into my frontal lobe when I was 5-6 and could probably write the screenplay myself, so its not like I don't understand the jokes; I just didn't find it all that funny.

I just don't feel like this is the best you can do, even the first one. I realize its a long movie and everything, but i would've rather seen ten minutes of gut-busting funny than a whole series that feels watered down. I guarantee that not many people will share this opinion, I'm sure most people will love it. But I feel a little betrayed after the final TTA flick. I'll still be waiting for that promised return back to originality tho......

Oh wow...

Animation is half the quality of the movie, so you got the five points for that, because the animation looked great, and it was actually a little funny at some parts. But the horribly unfunny ending, the fact that its untranslated, and the uber-Japaneseness of it all (which leads me to think that you might be some 30 year old anime fangirl instead of a real Japanese animator), just brought it down a large notch. It would have been a 9/10 if not for that ending, the other problems weren't so significant.

Outstanding fight choreography. That's about it.

Man, that was LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNG. Well, I'll start of with the good, you're a beast at making silly little sprites fight, and making it look good. The action is admittedly great, and for all that text, didn't find any errors. Overall, it was very well presented.

However, sweet fights can't carry a weak storyline. That was an hour of fluff, awkward, unrealistic dialogue, overused slapstick, and tedious talking that didn't mean a thing. There's only so much good you can do when taking the shortcut of sprite animating, because you can't really get all that creative with anything... I might just be getting tired of these, who knows. It'll definately give all the NG noobs and 13-year-olds boners, that's for damn sure.

Good, but nothing new... Seen these characters and their cliche'd personalities, along with Mario pretending to be Goku, a million times. 7/10...
