I can't believe I never reviewed this

I fucking love this flash, I could watch it over and over haha. The animation is really good in alot of the parts and I loved all the random gayness everywhere. I mean, you REACHED for faggot-pairups. I swear Dumbledore from Harry Potter was fucking Aang from Avatar somewhere in there lol. Nice work, you really should come by NG more often, why so mysterioussss?

Shanks?

Damn, I didn't know Patch got down like that.

Alas... he does :O

Not sure I caught the point...

Don't get me wrong, there clearly was some hard work put into this toon. The animation is for the most part well-done. The character designs were also solid and the voice acting was nice and clear. I just have to wonder exactly what the reasoning behind this cartoon was. You put that it was Comedy on the sidebar, but there's nothing comedic about it. There weren't really any jokes (Clever or stupid) and I can't see it making anyone laugh. I watched it 3 times hoping to find some type of analogy or allegory but there wasn't any of that either. Pointless or not, good production and effort as far as presentation, but for all the trouble you went through with the storytelling it doesn't really elicit much emotion or thought.

100% Boogley.

I could have told you made this shit even if it didn't have your name on it lol. The crayon and paper look was perfectly pulled off and you can never argue with full-fbf. The animation was wonky and fun to watch, and I love the song to death. (See: Username) Gud shyt mang!

I think this is the best Sonic flash ever.

Seriously, I know you were trying to be ironic, but this is of higher caliber and quality of content than 99% of the sonic flash on Newgrounds, so good job.

You're hilarious, but not the movie.

I can't seem to find much good in this flash. The lineart and shading were very sloppy and ameteurish, the animation, while it does seem like you know how to keep shape, you have no sense of weight or timing, and the lines squiggled when the character moves...which is gross... I think what ruined it the most for me was probably how repetitive it was, though. Seriously, I could understand recycling a shorter animation, but recycling a whole 15 second run 4 or 5 times is ridiculous for something you expect to be taken seriously. I could've even forgiven it even if you intended it to be shitty and just did it out of boredom, but it seems like you had this whole "I'm gonna show I'm better than Darkar!" thing going on, which dropped this flash from unoriginal to pathetic.

So let me get this straight, you saw an overrated flash and decided, "Hey I can do this better", so you made a flash that is not only about the same in quality, but EXACTLY the same in poor gag delivery + 300% more repetition and recycling? Wow, you really showed him! I'm not a big fan of Darkar either, but THIS is really going to ruin his day! You're a meanie!

DannyP responds:

Well, you have to remember this is a little animation by some nobody. I'm not going to spend 5 hours polishing every frame to ensure they're masterpieces that flow together professionally. If I used motion tweens or did less frame by frame and simply lengthened the duration inbetween the frames, it wouldn't have looked as squiggly, but then I don't think it would be a proper parody of "Zelda - Target" since it would have a completely different animation style. Or at least not the way I intended it.
The shading was only partial. Again, I wasn't gonna waste all that time in some attempt to crush Darkar or something. He didn't shade his, I didn't shade mine. I did more shading than he did, though. I dunno what you mean by weight, and the animation was timed to the beat of the music.

The recycled intro was cut shorter. I said it specifically in some other review, I don't remember the exact numbers... It was 16 seconds total, the first two loops were 15 seconds, third loop I think was 11 seconds, fourth loop was 8 seconds. You are right, though; that could've been handled better. I don't think the art there is something a person can appreciate or catch entirely the first time around, though.
3.5 seconds - the mountains and trees
1.2 seconds - Link standing and blinking
0.7 seconds - the target being raised
1.6 seconds - Navi spazzing out
1.2 seconds - Navi fluttering around the target
1.3 seconds - Link loading the bow and the zooms on Link

Anyhow... As you can see, these things don't last very long at all. You see them for a second or two and that's it. I thought it wouldn't be a big deal to make people look at it a little more. I dunno about you, but I'd spend at least 10-30 seconds looking at a piece of art, or something longer like 10 minutes if I was writing critique for it. Granted this art wasn't so amazing, so you aren't seeing these things for even 10 seconds each (well, you saw the mountains and trees for 13.5 seconds; sorry for scraping a bit above my minimum observation time).
I didn't think it was much of a crime. I mean, I spent hours making things you wouldn't even look at for 10 seconds. However, the numerous complaints suggest I should've cut the loop much shorter.

My goal was to say "This particular movie of Darkar's is way overrated; you guys need to learn how to vote fairly", not "I PWN HIM! LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME". And I said I have nothing against him, nor did I really make fun of him with my animation. I made fun of Newgrounds' users. But I wasn't trying to ruin anyone's day. I wouldn't waste 3 days of spare time making an animation just for that... rather, I hoped to amuse people with this, and the score and some reviews suggest I did. If I just wanted to be a little shit, I'd have tossed together some quick slop animation within an hour or two, made a topic on the forum to bash him, start voting 0 on all his stuff everyday, or express rage in some other low blow kinda like what half the reviewers here are doing to me.

"Your animation was better than his, but I gave you a 0 because I don't like you. You're a petty douche."
Hypocrites.

Man, you guys did a GREAT job on this. Solid visuals, nice color and a cool atmosphere. Some of the animation at some parts could use work, but it never took away from the great story, acting, and music (which REALLY caught my attention). Keep up the great work!
