Many of you who have seen my work may not know that every last cartoon I've made, from DevilSlayer to Magic Crack Rocks, to Vulvagaiyumi to Xenophobe...was drawn with a mouse I bought for 10 bucks at Meijer when I was 16. Yes, that's right. All of them. This mouse has gone through 20+ movies, and been there for everything. For the past 2 years it's been declining slowly, and I've searched high and low for another mouse that draws like it and I can't.

When the lag and the random double-clicking started (which caused me many-a-headache during the production of Xenophobe because it randomly exited me out of symbols and caused me to close the program and do other odd things involuntarily), I started buying more mice thinking that they all drew like this one, after all, it was the cheapest one at MEIJER. None have had the same precision. All draw with crusty, squiggly lines in flash, so I'd get refunds for them for the bad reading. (Yes, they actually gave me my money back for that. Wow.)

I think it was around 2 years ago that Newgrounds gifted me with this wonderful tablet, which has brought me much joy and fantastic art in PHOTOSHOP. But for Flash, I can't animate worth shit with it. The precision isn't nearly the same with vector, and I have been practicing since I got it but to hardly any avail. I'm trying hard to replicate my mouse style, but it's not cooperating.

So what does this mean for you? I probably won't be finishing my 67% Necropolis Synergy as soon as I expected. I am dedicated to learning to draw vector with this tablet (which I am mad grateful to Tom n them for) but if anybody else here draws/animates with a mouse like I've been and has a good suggestion for a brand that works well. PLEASE. TELL ME. Tanksbai

use the tablet , up the smoothing and turn off the pressure enabled tip option in flash.

Not quite. If it were that easy I would'nt have made this post. I've been drawing with a mouse since I was 5 years old dicking around in MS Paint on my mom's work computer.

Well that sucks. Good luck looking. Luis is the only animator I know that uses a mouse and is damn good at it.

Advice until then...use the tablet to make your Pico Day flash. I know you wanted to finish Synergy but if you work better with a mouse than wait until you get a better one. Knowing you it would make you feel better about it too. But a Pico Day flash would be good for practice purposes. You already told me you'd rather focus on Synergy anyways, but now you don't have any excuse to make one, and with the tablet. Sure it may not be your best work, but it would be good, and a good excuse to practice. Homeboy out!

SpikeValentine (SnowSnowForLucy) and o-oVinnie animate with a mouse too. Also, I'm not doing the Pico Day thing, I tried hard to get interested but I just couldn't as much as I loved Pico's School. I think I may be incapable of animating a fan cartoon... >_> I should probably be concerned... Either way, I'm not touching Synergy again until I'm as good or better with a tablet if I don't find a mouse. This movie's important to me, I want it to be top quality.

hey yo man- that story sounds stikingly similar to me and my mouse! (even tho i won a tablet and never got in the mail!) idk if urs was an optical...i have to assume that it was haha....i use a memorex optical scroll pro mouse SE- ive been using it since flash 8! i love the way it draws! good luck man!

Yeah it's a Logitech optical that's so used, the model number's rubbed off. I will check out that model though.

I've tried, I bought the EXACT SAME MODEL at the EXACT SAME STORE a few months ago and it drew like utter shit. Apparently the quality of that model has cheapened since 06.

i use a logitech mx310 mouse. I wont draw with anything other than it. Its not overly sensitive like a laser gaming mouse, and doesnt booger up like a ball mouse, the infrared on it seems comfortable. But that could just me my demented mind.

Its a cheap mouse nowadays, i usually 'stock' up on them. So that every computer i have or work at, i always have the mouse im comfortable with.

On a long term. You probably should learn to use a tablet, or upgrade to a cintique when you have the loot. Its bad for your wrist to use the mouse to draw as a career.

Interesting... I'll definitely be looking for one of those tomorrow. I know I need to learn how eventually -_-;; but for the purposes of consistency in this half-done flash I'd really like to find something close in quality. I get what you're saying though.

On topic, I say practice, practice, practice with the tablet more. If you can finally get comfortable with it as you were with the mouse then you should be able to finish projects a lot faster with the pen.
