Last night I watched a movie called Tekkonkinkreet. Whe I saw the DVD cover and screenshots, I thought to myself, what the hell were these people thinking...Until I saw it in motion, then I was like, "SO THAT'S WHAT THEY WERE THINKING...." Not only did the animation amaze me, but the story left me breathless. When people say things like spectacular, or best anime of all time, usually I can't agree, but this movie was crack. Please, if you like animation, even if you hate anime, you MUST see this movie, it will astound you. There is no genre for this movie, you'll lose yourself and the whole analogy about the good and evil within human beings personified in surrogate brothers, Black and White shows the complexity of human existance in the best possible way. If you're observant, you'll see what I mean.
It really inspired me for Nightgun to make my message stronger, and almost makes me want to rewrite it. My main goal with Nightgun since my recent revalation is to make a story that approaches my views of the subject of God, and how it relates to mankind as a whole. To spread the word that regardless what faith you follow, we're all the same blood, and to encourage people to quit thinking that they know everything, mankind's biggest flaw. Jesus being the son of God doesn't make Mohammed evil, and doesn't change the fact that you can learn something new from anybody, whether they be Muslim, Jewish, atheist, whatever. Telling people about your beliefs is one thing, I have no problem listening to a Muslim, atheist or Buddhist, but hate is just plain unnecessary. Nightgun as a series will talk about these things, and figures of faith and religion very openly, so I hope you guys don't have a problem with that. Yes, this means it won't be a black culmination of cheap, lifeless anime cliche's anymore lol.
Anyway, I've been practicing my animation skills vigorously, and my storywriting skills, because I want for this to be my best work yet. I hope you guys have an open mind, and are treating people of other races and faiths with love and respect based on their character and NOT how much they look like you. Peace.

I've seen Tekkonkinkreet. The animation and backgrounds were absolutely unbelievable. However, the unsightly character designs really turned me off. Some anime style does take some getting used to, but those characters were just downright ugly. I actually found myself looking at the backgrounds more often than the foreground at times. But that aside, I agree with you. The animation in Tekkonkinkreet is revolutionary, and the message is definately one to take home. I'm glad to hear you've been inspired, and it seems like you've decided to take your series in a much more interesting direction as a result. Best of luck to you, I'll be waiting to see what you come up with.

Thanks man, 'preciate it. I'll work hard on it, it's new to me just how important these types of things are in artistic expression. And yeah, lol the movie's characters were a lil' ugly, but life ain't always beautiful and symmetrical ya'know? Personally, it grew on me.
