hey, you get nothin but encouragement from me =)
If there was anything you've stressed, was that there doesn't need to be so much unnessesary detail. I can definitely see this working out for you so go for it. DO whatever it takes, WHATEVER IT TAKES XD

Thanks bruh, you know I will! Bout to do my damn thang

I like it, nice improvements!

Thanks!

Man, I can't believe I haven't seen your stuff before! I just noticed this post on the front page and started watching your work. You got stuff figured out!

I totally agree with your decision to ditch the anime style. Anime talking scenes can actually be pretty expressive in certian situations, but it's definitely geared towards a certian cultural mentality that calls outwardly controlled characters whose emotions rise to the surface during key moments of passion and anger. If you want your characters to emote all the time, anime's probably not the best way to do it.

Your new style looks great! I would argue that it's just as derivitive of western works as your old style was derivitive of anime, but there's nothing wrong with a little derivation. There are only so many different ways of abstracting the human face, and this new style definitely looks like the right tool for the job.

Don't forget that you can always throw on hilights and shadows if you feel like it! The anime style has the most institutionalized set of tools for simulating light and shadow, but that doesn't mean they have a monopoly on the technique. Even The Simpsons uses shadows every now and then. Just save it for when you need it, especially if it would otherwise get in the way of capturing that "livelyness" western toons are famous for.

The outfits look great, too. They look pretty familiar, not as high-concept as the outfits in the Nightgun Pilot, but then again I guess the old ones weren't that high-concept after all if you were just copying Devil May Cry and such.

The new art style might mesh better with your storytelling, too, especially for things like gay jokes. When I was watching the Nightgun pilot, and they showed the news anchor, I reflexively thought "Aww, man, they totally screwed over the cultural subtext when they were dubbing this!" Then I remembered I wasn't watching a dub. :P

So yeah, all things considered, this feels like a change for the better. :) I can't wait to see how you tie it all together in the new series. I didn't know about your stuff until today, but I'm looking forward to it now! Take care. :)

Hah! Thanks man, glad you enjoy my stuff. And I realize my change does derive from western style, but what I plan to make stand out is the animation itself. I plan to take the good out of everything. I want to have the western concept of lots more frame-by-frame and lifelike movement while using the partly japanese concepts of over-the-top martial arts, violence, and raw uncensored expression. I'm on it!

Anime has gotten to the point where it's like CartoonNetwork. Nothing good... Every few years a good show comes out but other than that. It's repetitive bullcrap with the same story with just different characters.

I know man! It's rediculous. I miss that stuff like Trigun, Cowboy Bebop and Ghost in the Shell (the original movie). Now it's either some half demon boy with white hair fighting his brother over his father's sword, or some kids getting swept up into some monster-battling game that always ends up being "more than a game" somehow. What happened? Did they just start making too much and stretched it out too far?

good luck

Thanks

Cool, thats great! I have been brushing up on my frame by frame, realistic animation too. Cant wait till it comes out!

Thanks man :)

Oh yeah and is GREAT that you are gonna try to break free of the whole anime "formula"!

lol this pic up above is looking very much like the disney cartoons they have on in the morning.. lol

IT LOOKS GOOD KEEP IT UP:>

I get a lot of inspiration from Disney's human movies like Tarzan, Treasure Planet, and Atlantis. Although, I really don't wanna be copying anybody really...Still workin' on it. Thanks man :)

Aight, good luck with your new style, and the more action part? I like that.
ill be on the lookout!

Thanks man, 'preciate it!

hay man i saw u commented on azn-sk8er's post bout the sf collab...well, hez kinda backed outta it...but I wana take it ova and keep it going..so if u still keen come to my page and sign yaself up lolz...u can use as much blood as ya want...

Thanks for lettin' me know, man, 'preciate it. But I think I'mma pass on that, I have serious issues with commiting myself to fan stuff for some reason and I can't seem to make myself animate anything of that sort... Dunno why. Thanks for lettin' me in on it tho.

it all went downnhill after Hamtaro, nothing could top that great anime

hah!

nice blog, it take a humble person to look back at their work learn what doesnt work and change it. you are definitely going in the right direction and your series will benefit from it. Stories are tuff because concepts for the most part have always been done before.. Its the content that needs to be fresh.. How you approach any plot clichés is what will set you apart from anyone else,
Im still learning stuff everyday. two things I think that can help you.
1) animation over detail is always better, but with programs like flash you can have both.. animate your movements in the ruff traditional method and then overlay your characters with details symbols. not many people use this process but it works and Im getting better at it.
2) Life is always moving.. this one is gonna be a tuffy, but.. try to not have anything still in your animation.... ever... if they are talking and are waiting for their next line, have them breathe. if they are cocking back a huge punch make sure the last frame of the movement is still cockin back even if its very slightly.

anyways, I hope those suggestions help, and look forward to see what you come up with next.

Definately man, thanks for the advice, trust me, I've learned my lesson with that hehe.

I thought the fight scene in NG1 Epilogue was badass, so if you're improving beyond even that then I can't wait :D

Thanks man! :)

Hey man, I'm with ya'. Your stuff keeps getting better and better!

Thanks man, I appreciate that =) I know I still have a lot to learn tho

It's a relief that there are some people who
want to take a different approach on style besides anime.
Your models are gorgeous btw.
Do you have a tablet?
If not well you should seriously consider owning one.
I seriously believe you being one of the top artist on Newgrounds.
The only thing ask as a fan is that make the plot really clear.
I hate when I get confused about a story.
I also love your use of original sound effects instead of jacking all of yours
From a movie or video game.
Looking forward to your new projects. :]

Thanks man! nah I don't have a tablet, I want one though. I'll work on the clarity in my stories, but there will always be something that I'll use that's indistinct as means to keep viewers' attention. Twists keep a story moving forward. =)
