What is the deal, I think you have to at one point stick to what you got and keep going. I really do like your style your art and you have a great sense of telling a story but you have to learn to keep on staying at task.
Im totally now lost plot wise XD
Just being honest. What is it that makes you want to restart?
Im gonna have to agree with Bug on this one. Forget the audience and popularity and do it for you. If YOU want it to be "pefect" than give Nightgun a break for a bit and try something comletely unrelated as some have suggested. Whether it be a new series, some shorts, or something completely random, just go and take a break. There's no rush to get your masterpiece out. Take a break and work on your ideas and story of this series your trying to make.
Flash isn't your job so don't treat it like one yet. Do it for the fun.
And if your stuck on how to get your ideas right just do what I do sometimes. Let it come to you. I have two huge ideas in my mind right now for HUGE, and I mean, HUGE series that I want to rock newgrounds with. Series so huge I would be putting in a committment of years to get them done with how great I want them to be, how huge the story is, and quite frankly how long I take to animate anything. These two ideas sparked from one simple concept that just grew over time. Sometimes I sat around and tried to write something good and other times, most of the time actually, and idea would just pop into my mind out of nowhere. Sometimes this idea sprang from something I saw somewhere else. One of my stories actually sparked from playing Rome: Total War and now is growing into a story of government, politics, greed, revenge, rebellion, freedom, unity, committment, and way more than I had even wanted it to be.
So take a break and stop trying so hard just for a little bit. Sometimes the best thing you can do is to let the ideas come to you and then make something out of them.
I know you want a series that is completely orginal, but I hate to break it to you, most things these days are not original anymore. Originality is dying simply because there is a lot of great and shitty things out there already. It's hard for something to be completely original. What matters now is not what the story is, but how it is told.
Two examples I have for you. The Departed and the new Batman movies. Both are great movies of great stories, but they are really nothing new. Movies about Batman and the war between cops and the mafia have already been made, the latter many many times. Undercover cops and traiters aren't even original anymore. Than why are they so successful?
Simply put, the same story was told in an amazing way. Yeah, some things were new, but for the most part it was HOW these stories were told, NOT WHAT was being told.
I think that's one of your problems as well. Your aiming a bit too high for your series. You want it to be completely original and insanely huge on the first try. In the end your just dissapointing yourself. Im not saying lower your goals, just to approach it in a different way.
So for a while, let the ideas come to you. Don't be afraid to take something from somewhere else and tweak it a bit. There's nothing wrong with it. And when your finally ready to make your big series do a lot of pre-production stuff. Write a script for the whole series. Not line by line neccesarily, but almost exactly what you want to happen during the course of the series and try to stick to that. Don't be afraid to change some minor things during the course of the series either, just as long as it won't make you restart AGAIN!!!!
And most importantly. DO IT FOR FUN!!! Do it for you, not for fame or to be an internet star. Yes, your movies here may be a good place to build a portfolio and get your name out to some professionals but don't make that your only goal. If you do it for fun you may find yourself getting the awards, the fame, and the recognition you wanted from the get go. And if you don't? SO WHAT? You'll always have fans and people will notice you, even if it's not the entire site. And more importantly, you will have enjoyed the experience of getting your story and animation into the public eye.
And besides, you are getting noticed in small ways, but even these ways can get you noticed by just a few more people. Your posts are on the front page now, Tom Fulp mentioned you in the recent news post, which many MANY people will see and check out, and I already see staff members commenting on your posts. This may not seem like much, but it means you are part of a community that likes your stuff, and in time you will get noticed. Just don't give up.
Keep doin what your doin man. You know Im here to help you in any way I can, even if it's just by writing some long ass comments like these.
Good luck man.
Thanks Matt for that essay lol. I did read the whole thing. I don't need to start over, nothing I do will be perfect or anybody else for that matter. You, Bug and many of the people who commented here gave me a great revelation. Forget I even said anything about this.

Rofl, I made "LR: Prelude" like 3 years ago, and for three years, every time I come back to that series i close it down after a few weeks when i realize i'm not skilled enough to make it the way I want.
My advice, give your baby a rest, and start working on some side projects for practise. That way, you'll still develop your skills without messing up your dream project. Then, when you're ready to do it justice, you can blow us all away.
