I hate watching something with a blatant message. You can have it, but I shouldn't be the focus. The purpose of your work shouldn't be to yell out "HEY LISTEN TO ME I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY!"
Tekkonkinkreet wasn't like that anyway though. And I hope your's won't be either. I love theology as much as the next guy, but it should seamlessly and simply flow with the story. Any real message should be left up to the viewer to interpret. Each member of the audience should be equally easy to take home a different meaning from it.
That's how I feel. And of course I'd love to see you do it that way, but if it's not what you want to do, I guess don't do it haha. Chances are I won't like it though.

I've seen Tekkonkinkreet. The animation and backgrounds were absolutely unbelievable. However, the unsightly character designs really turned me off. Some anime style does take some getting used to, but those characters were just downright ugly. I actually found myself looking at the backgrounds more often than the foreground at times. But that aside, I agree with you. The animation in Tekkonkinkreet is revolutionary, and the message is definately one to take home. I'm glad to hear you've been inspired, and it seems like you've decided to take your series in a much more interesting direction as a result. Best of luck to you, I'll be waiting to see what you come up with.

Thanks man, 'preciate it. I'll work hard on it, it's new to me just how important these types of things are in artistic expression. And yeah, lol the movie's characters were a lil' ugly, but life ain't always beautiful and symmetrical ya'know? Personally, it grew on me.
